The number of FDI companies operating in Vietnam’s automotive sector increased from 286 in 2020 to 322 in 2024. Over the same period, their total revenue rose from nearly USD 9 billion to almost USD 13 billion.
Japan currently leads the sector, accounting for more than 50% of total revenue among FDI automotive enterprises. It is followed by South Korea at around 16% and the United States at approximately 13%.
However, when looking at average revenue per company, a different picture emerges. Japanese enterprises have shown an upward trend, reaching around USD 68 million per company in 2024. This figure remains almost three times lower than that of U.S. enterprises, which averaged approximately USD 240 million per company. Meanwhile, South Korean and Taiwanese enterprises recorded relatively similar average revenue levels, at around USD 18 million per company.
