Overview and Current State of Industrial Parks in Bac Ninh

Bac Ninh Province, located in the northern economic region of Vietnam, spans an area of approximately 822 km² and is home to over 1.5 million people[1]. This small yet industrially significant province has experienced rapid development in the past decade. Situated just 30 kilometers northeast of Hanoi and about 110 kilometers from Hai Phong Port, Bac Ninh benefits from a highly strategic location. It is connected to key transportation routes, including the Hanoi–Lang Son Expressway and the National Highway 1A, providing seamless access to major industrial zones in the region. These advantages have made Bac Ninh a hotspot for industrial and foreign direct investment (FDI).

By 2024, Bac Ninh boasts 15 major industrial parks, such as Que Vo, Yen Phong, and VSIP Bac Ninh, which focus on high-tech industries like electronics, telecommunications, and precision manufacturing. Some of industrial parks are invested by foreign countries such as Japan, US, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. In the first 9 months of 2024, foreign investors invested US$1.56 billion in 339 projects in Bắc Ninh, reflecting significant year-on-year growth in both total investment (82.2%) and project numbers (28.4%). The province’s ability to attract substantial foreign investment reaffirms its status as a major industrial hub in northern Vietnam[2]. This influx of investment highlights Bac Ninh’s advantages, such as competitive labor costs (around 342 USD per month in 2023[3]) and lower housing prices compared to Hanoi. Its proximity to the capital offers an ideal alternative for businesses facing increasing costs and space limitations in Hanoi.

To further enhance its competitiveness, Bac Ninh authorities implemented a comprehensive development strategy in 2023 under Plan No. 45/KH-UBND. This includes incentives such as corporate tax reductions, land-use subsidies, and streamlined administrative procedures. By 2030, the province aims to establish an additional 8 industrial parks with a total area of nearly 1,700 ha[4] and providing ample opportunities for future investors.
