A Core Theme: “The Challenge of Creating New Industries”
The overarching theme of this book is “The Challenge of Creating New Industries.” While Vietnam already possesses several strong industries, its creation of added value remains insufficient. Therefore, amid global transformation and within its strategy to become a high-income country, the Vietnamese government aims to build new, major industries in areas like semiconductors, AI, and the environment. This requires elevating social systems like human resource development and infrastructure such as energy and logistics to significantly higher levels.
This presents a major opportunity for companies, and their long-term prospects will hinge on success in this “industry creation” phase. With this in mind, B&Company selected the sectors featured in the White Book to align with Vietnam’s priority growth areas and the structural shifts shaping the market.
Why This White Book Is Different
While many market entry guides and macro-level overviews of Vietnam are available, few publications provide a cross-industry, structured summary of Vietnam’s current landscape in a way that is both practical and engaging for business readers. To address this gap, Vietnam Business White Book 2025 adopts a distinctive approach:
- Provide an overview of the interconnectedness of Vietnam’s economy across diverse industries
- Include insights useful even for readers outside the industry
- Structure the content to be engaging as a read, covering the background of changes and the movements of major companies
- Minimize information available elsewhere (books/web) by adopting unique perspectives
- Keep the volume manageable for practitioners to read through
During development, our team often debated how deeply to dive into each theme within a limited number of pages per sector. Ideally, each topic could justify its own dedicated publication—such as a “Logistics White Paper” or “E-Commerce White Paper.” For this edition, however, we made a deliberate decision to streamline and omit certain points, prioritizing readability and multidimensional understanding. We believe that completing this single volume provides readers with a clear, cross-sector view of Vietnam’s most important growth areas.
