On July 8^그, Shiga Prefecture has announced to launch the Shiga support desk Vietnam to assist local companies in Shiga Prefecture seeking to expand their operations into Vietnam. This initiative builds on Shiga’s long-standing collaboration with Vietnam, which includes a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in 2014 with Ho Chi Minh City to enhance cooperation in economic and industrial fields.

Services Offered by the Shiga Support Desk Vietnam

B&Company, a consulting firm based in Tokyo, will operate the Vietnam Business Support Desk on behalf of Shiga Prefecture. The support desk will offer a variety of services to assist businesses with their expansion plans, including:

– Consultations on Establishing Local Subsidiaries: Helping companies navigate the process of setting up operations in Vietnam.

– Export and Business Strategy Support: Offering guidance on how to approach exporting goods to Vietnam and integrating into its business landscape.

– Information on Local Economic and Social Conditions: Providing valuable insights into the business environment and societal trends in Vietnam.

– Business Matching Services: Facilitating connections between Shiga businesses and local Vietnamese enterprises for collaborative opportunities.

All services will be available in Japanese and are provided free of charge to eligible companies.

Promising Opportunities for Expanding Business Between Shiga Prefecture and Vietnam

Shiga Prefecture Governor Taizo Mikazuki emphasized the importance of Vietnam, a country experiencing rapid economic growth, as a key market, production hub, and talent source. As of the end of 2024, Vietnamese nationals accounted for 26% of the foreign population in Shiga prefecture. Additionally, approximately 40 companies from Shiga have already expanded into Vietnam. Shiga Prefecture has also worked on attracting highly skilled workers from Vietnam, including through a partnership with Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2021.

With the establishment of these support desks, local businesses from Shiga prefecture will be able to access crucial information and resources for their expansion plans. This initiative reflects Shiga Prefecture’s commitment to fostering a closer economic relationship with Vietnam, a country where the economy is growing at one of the fastest rates globally.
