Vietnam is emerging as a new stage for luxury wedding tourism in Asia, thanks to its breathtaking coastlines, a robust ecosystem of five-star resorts, and convenient e-visa policies. The surge of large-scale weddings from India and other international markets is flowing into beach destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc, combined with professional wedding planners and world-class venues—together positioning Vietnam as a new “hot spot” for luxury wedding tourism.

市場概況

According to FMI, the destination wedding market in the word is projected to reach approximately USD 36.8 billion by 2025 and is expected to grow to around USD 68.2 billion by 2035, registering a CAGR of 6.4% from 2025 to 2035[1].

Vietnam has emerged as an appealing destination for luxury weddings thanks to its rich heritage and affordable high-end services. Ha Long Bay–Cat Ba Archipelago and Hoi An Ancient Town, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, offer unique backdrops for seaside and cultural-themed ceremonies[2]. Premium resorts such as Four Seasons The Nam Hai (Hoi An) provide wedding packages starting from USD 10,818 for 2–50 guests, significantly lower than similar offerings in Bali (around USD 13,600 at Four Seasons Sayan)[3].

Moreover, Vietnam’s visa policy has become increasingly open, with a 90-day e-visa and visa-free entry up to 45 days for 13 countries, including Japan and South Korea[4]. Together with its tropical climate averaging 26–29 °C year-round in southern destinations such as Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City, the country offers ideal conditions for outdoor weddings and honeymoons[5].

In Vietnam, the post-pandemic recovery of tourism has laid the foundation for the growth of the luxury wedding segment. In 2024, the country welcomed approximately 17.5–17.6 million international visitors, of which 84.4% arrived by air. The sharp increase in direct flights has created a breakthrough for the destination wedding segment, which relies on convenient connections and short travel itineraries[6].

The chart shows that Vietnam’s international arrivals in 2024 are heavily concentrated in Northeast Asia, with South Korea leading by a wide margin, followed by China and Taiwan. Long-haul markets such as the United States and Japan rank at a moderate level, while India has risen to the top six, notable for its growing demand for premium services such as destination weddings.

Characteristics of the luxury wedding segment in Vietnam

Key Destination Clusters: Luxury weddings in Vietnam are concentrated along iconic coastal areas such as Da Nang–Hoi An, Nha Trang–Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Hue–Lang Co, Ha Long, and Con Dao—home to a high density of international five-star resorts and scenic peninsula or private-island settings, ideal for large-scale outdoor celebrations[7]. Resorts like InterContinental, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, and Amanoi have launched dedicated wedding packages and venues, demonstrating the readiness of Vietnam’s high-end supply for this segment.

Typical Event Format: A destination wedding in Vietnam typically lasts 3–5 days, featuring a series of ceremonies such as the welcome party, tea ceremony, main ceremony, and after-party, and usually hosts 200–600 guests. Many couples opt for a resort buyout to ensure privacy and smooth operations.[8] Media reports have highlighted large-scale Indian weddings in Da Nang, including one event that booked the entire 258-room Sheraton Grand Danang Resort and hosted around 500 guests.

Ecosystem readiness: The ecosystem is already in place. Local authorities—especially Da Nang—are actively promoting wedding tourism through international conferences and Fam trip programs, which help strengthen coordination among venues, wedding planners, and service providers. In June 2024, the Da Nang Department of Tourism hosted a dedicated conference and launched a pilot program for destination weddings; in early October 2025, 30 leading Indian wedding planning companies visited Da Nang for site inspections and networking[9].

Ease of entry procedures: Since August 15, 2023, Vietnam has implemented a 90-day, multiple-entry e-visa for citizens of all countries and territories, significantly reducing travel barriers for international guests and on-site production teams[10].

Market trends

Vietnam’s luxury wedding market is on the rise, driven by three key factors:

(1) Strong demand from India, with many weddings hosting 200–600 guests. Among the destinations, Da Nang has emerged as a key hub, continuously welcoming Fam trip groups of 30 leading Indian wedding planning companies between October 3–6[11]. However, demand is now gradually diversifying beyond India to include high-income markets such as South Korea, Japan, and Western countries, where couples increasingly seek exotic yet accessible destinations in Southeast Asia[12]1つの

(2) The five-star resort supply in Vietnam is well-prepared for full property buyouts. A notable example is an Indian wedding that booked the entire 258 rooms at Sheraton Grand Danang Resort, hosting approximately 500 guests over three days.[13]

(3) Supportive policies have made travel much easier for international guests and on-site teams (photography, videography, AV, decoration), thanks to the introduction of a 90-day, multiple-entry e-visa for citizens of all nationalities, effective from August 15, 2023[14].

Main player in luxury wedding market

Vietnam’s luxury wedding market is currently dominated by international five-star resort brands located in key coastal destinations such as Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Ha Long. Most leading venues are operated by global hospitality groups like IHG, Marriott, Four Seasons, and Banyan Tree, which provide world-class facilities and bespoke wedding packages tailored for both Indian and Northeast Asian clients.

From the above summary table, the major luxury wedding venues in Vietnam share several key features:

  • Most of them are located along the coast and suitable for outdoor banquets. Nine out of ten venues lie along Vietnam’s main beaches (Da Nang – Hoi An, Nha Trang–Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Lang Co, Con Dao, Ha Long). These venues often have private lawns or beachfront areas, making it easy to set up outdoor stages and ideal for large buy-out weddings.
  • The supply has matured, with a boom starting in the 2010s. Most resorts and hotels opened between 2010–2018 with the more recent addition of Regent in 2022. In other words, Vietnam now has a sufficient base of international-standard five-star properties capable of hosting 200–600 guests per event.
  • Major global brands guarantee quality. The presence of IHG (InterContinental/Regent), Hyatt, Marriott (Sheraton), Six Senses, Banyan Tree, and others has helped standardize wedding services and ensure smooth collaboration with professional wedding planners for 3- to 5-day celebration programs.

Implications for foreign investors

Vietnam’s luxury wedding market offers promising opportunities driven by the rise of Indian and Northeast Asian clients, the 90-day e-visa policy for all nationalities, and favorable regulations that allow up to 100% foreign ownership in the hotel sector (CPC 64110) through new establishment or M&A[15]. Key destinations such as Da Nang–Hoi An, Nha Trang–Cam Ranh, and Phu Quoc stand out for their five-star resorts, good international air connectivity, and strong local government support for wedding tourism.

However, investors should note that Vietnam does not permit direct land ownership. Land must be accessed through land-use rights (lease or sub-lease) for up to 50 years, extendable under Vietnamese law[16]. Companies organizing international wedding events are also subject to a security deposit requirement under Decree 168/2017/NĐ-CP, while activities such as drone filming require advance approval from defense authorities[17]. To succeed, investors should enter via FDI or M&A, or partner with existing resorts and local agencies for operations. Early clarification of legal and logistics procedures, along with investment in digital marketing and cooperation with local authorities, will help strengthen Vietnam’s position as a premier luxury wedding destination in Asia.
