Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming logistics and transportation industries worldwide, streamlining operations, and enhancing efficiency through automation, data analysis, and predictive capabilities. As Vietnam strives to become a competitive logistics hub within Southeast Asia, the use of AI could be the key to overcoming operational inefficiencies and positioning itself on the global stage. This article examines the current applications of AI in Vietnam\u2019s logistics sector and explores its promising prospects for future growth.<\/p>\n

Current situation of AI in logistics and transportation in Vietnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As of 2023, Vietnam ranks 43rd out of 100 on the Logistics Performance Index, placing it among the top five ASEAN countries, following Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, and tied with the Philippines[1]<\/a>. Vietnam\u2019s logistics market is anticipated to grow by 14-16% by 2025, contributing around 5% to the nation\u2019s GDP in 2023[2]<\/a>. This market is expected to continue its strong momentum from 2023 to 2027, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5%[3]<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite the robust growth seen across both sectors, numerous challenges and issues remain. The adoption of technology in general, and specifically artificial intelligence (AI), remains low in both Vietnam’s logistics and transportation sector. To date, only a few companies\u2014both private and government-owned\u2014have begun integrating AI into their operations and business activities.<\/p>\n

Government policies and supports<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Prime Minister has issued Decision No. 127\/ in 2021 the National Strategy for Research, Development, and Application of AI through 2030. The strategy emphasizes a human – and business – centered approach to AI development and application for all sectors of Vietnam economy.
